A RESOLUTION congratulating the Lee's Summit West High School Robotics Team for making it to the final round at the FIRST Robotic World Championship.

Body
WHEREAS, the FIRST Robotics Competition Championship is a celebration of science and technology for high school students worldwide; and,
WHEREAS, the 21 members of the Lee's Summit West High School Robotics Team Titanium, led by their coach Aaron Bailey, made it to the final round in the 2010 FIRST Robotic Competition challenging 340 other teams; and,
WHEREAS, Team Titanium earned the prestigious Innovation in Control Award from Rockwell Automation for their excellent use of sensors and programming as well as silver medals and a trophy for their outstanding performance; and,
WHEREAS, Team Titanium built their robot in six weeks, to compete in a soccer-like game to climb obstacles and score goals against their opponents; and,
WHEREAS, involvement with Team Titanium has inspired many students to pursue science and technology related careers and helped them to develop relationships with business leaders; and,
WHEREAS, students' participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition has highlighted the rich technical and industrial resources we have in our community; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Lee's Summit West High School Robotics Team on their prestigious showing and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
