Body
WHEREAS, Charles L. Porter Sr. was born on September 17, 1935, in the state of Oklahoma, and has lived a life marked by unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Porter has been married to Kay F. Porter for 69 years, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to love, partnership, and family values; and,
WHEREAS, he is the proud father of three children - Kathy Shepard, Angela Fowler, and Charles Porter Jr. - and the beloved grandfather of five grandchildren and great-grandfather to seven, whose lives reflect his enduring legacy of love, guidance, and strength; and,
WHEREAS, he has been a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church for 80 years, serving faithfully as the Head of Trustees and overseeing Building and Grounds, where he led with integrity, stewardship, and a servant's heart, always contributing wherever needed with humility and grace; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Porter dedicated over 30 years of service to the Boys and Girls Club, positively impacting generations of youth through mentorship, leadership, and compassion; and,
WHEREAS, he retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of honorable service, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Porter graduated from RT Coles High School in the class of 1954, and has remained a proud advocate for education and youth development throughout his life; and,
WHEREAS, his passion for empowering young people led him to help establish Mountaintop Sports and Recreation, a transformative initiative for inner-city youth, and to launch a vital community pantry to serve those in need; and,
