AN ORDINANCE appropriating an additional $34,970.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2026 Anti-Crime Sales Tax Grant Fund, in acceptance of the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant awarded to the Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force.

Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5883, dated October 7, 2024, the Legislature did accept the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, and Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant (JAG) in the amount of $350,447.00, for the period July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025; and,
WHEREAS, an additional $34,970.00 of grant funding is available, extending the grant period through August 31, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, the JAG program is administered by the Missouri Department of Public Safety; and,
WHEREAS, the grant proceeds will provide partial funding for the salaries of five detectives; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the proper spending accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends an appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within and appropriation from the undesignated fund balance of the 2026 Anti-Crime Sales Tax Grant Fund be and hereby are made:
