Body
WHEREAS, Jordan Hoffman is the daughter of Mark and Ruth Hoffman, and sister of Sophia Hoffman; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan Hoffman is a sixth grade student at Highland Park Elementary in Lee's Summit and has been the winner of the Highland Park Elementary Spelling Bee three years in a row; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan recently won the top prize in the Jackson County Spelling Bee which qualifies her as a participant in the Scripps National Spelling Bee; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to her Spelling Bee achievements, Jordan is involved in the Lee's Summit R-7 District Honors Orchestra, the Lee's Summit Youth Chorale (an Honors choir), and has taken piano lessons since she was five (5) years old; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan enjoys spending time with her family, and particularly her sister Sophia whom she admires for her courage and optimism; and,
WHEREAS, Jordan has commented that competing in the national event is a dream come true; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Jordan Hoffman for this significant achievement and wishes her well in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
