Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 10878, dated June 12, 1995, the Legislature authorized a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, allowing the residents of the unincorporated area of the county to participate in the city's Household Hazardous Waste Clean-up Days event; and,

WHEREAS, said event proved to be a successful springboard for a permanent Household Hazardous Waste Center, in accordance with the Mid America Regional Council (MARC) Solid Waste Management District's Management Plan; and,

WHEREAS, Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte, and Ray Counties and the City of Kansas City have formed the MARC Solid Waste District (SWMD) pursuant to Missouri statutes; and,

WHEREAS, through cooperation in government, the cities of Kansas City and Lee's Summit and MARC have established Regional Household Hazardous Waste Centers to provide members of the SWMD with a place to take their hazardous waste and provide education on proper purchasing, use, storage, and disposal of household chemicals; and,

WHEREAS, the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Centers began operation in 1997; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of its citizens that the County provide access to the centers for the residents of unincorporated Jackson County; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into the attached Intergovernmental Agreement with the MARC Solid Waste Management District,...
