Body
WHEREAS, Larry Jansen, former Lee's Summit High School girls basketball coach, has been selected for induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame; and,
WHEREAS, Larry has been with the Lee's Summit School District since 1969; and,
WHEREAS, Larry led the Lee's Summit High School girls basketball team, the Tigers, for 21 years, winning 17 district and 12 conference championships, with seven final four appearances and two state titles; and,
WHEREAS, Larry retired as the Tigers' coach in 1996 after posting a 27-2 record; and,
WHEREAS, Larry now teaches physical education at Prairie Elementary in Lee's Summit; and,
WHEREAS, the induction ceremony will be held on January 19th, at the University Plaza Hotel in Springfield and a reception will follow at the Hall of Fame in honor of Larry and other inductees; and,
WHEREAS, congratulations go out to Larry for receiving this prestigious award in honor of his successful career in coaching; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Larry Jansen upon his induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
