AN ORDINANCE repealing Schedule I through VI to Chapter 2, Jackson County Code, 1984, relating to the salary ranges of employees not under the Merit System and enacting, in lieu thereof, six new schedules relating to the same subject.

Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to article II, § 16.15 of the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of Jackson County, the Legislature is responsible for setting the compensation of county employees, not under the merit system; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature has fulfilled this responsibility by enacting § 285. of the County Code, which establishes salary ranges for these employees, within which the appointing authorities of the employees have the discretion to fix specific salaries, subject to the availability of budgeted funds; and,

WHEREAS, these salary ranges were last subject to a comprehensive review and revision in 1999; and,

WHEREAS, since that time, ranges for many of the employees whose salaries are set by the Legislature have become outdated; and,

WHEREAS, the adoption of revised salary ranges for these positions is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Enacting Clause. Schedules I-VI to Chapter 2, Jackson County Code, 1984, are hereby repealed and six new schedules enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as Schedules I-VI, to read as follows:
