A RESOLUTION awarding a contract on Bid No. PW-2345 for the demolition of the former Kansas City Election Board Building to Midland Wrecking Company of Lenexa, KS, at a cost not to exceed $141,588.00, and authorizing the County Executive to approve additional expenditures under this contract at a cost not to exceed $7,000.00, for a total amount not to exceed $148,588.00.

Body
WHEREAS, in connection with the Jackson County Detention Center expansion, the Purchasing Director has solicited formal written bids on Bid No. PW-2345 for the demolition of the former Kansas City Election Board building; and,
WHEREAS, he has received as the lowest three bids thereon bids from the following:

Midland Wrecking Company $141,588.00
Lenexa, KS
Deco Wrecking, Inc. $147,378.00
Kansas City (Jackson County), MO
C. S. Ehinger Company $218,700.00
Kansas City (Jackson County), MO
and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director has recommended that award be made to Midland Wrecking Company of Lenexa, KS, for the reason that it has submitted the lowest and best bid; and,
WHEREAS, in the event that change orders to the contract become necessary, due to the time constraints involved in completing the demolition, it is appropriate that the County Executive be given authority to approve additional expenditures under this contract not to exceed $7,000.00, which is less than 5% of the contract amount; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
