Body
WHEREAS, it was with great sorrow to family and friends to learn of the death of Brian Keith Harris, Sr.; and,

WHEREAS, Brian, a Jackson County employee who managed the Judge Mason Day Report Center from March 1996 to January of 1997, was a role model for troubled youth who might have been otherwise overlooked; and,

WHEREAS, Brian possessed interpersonal skills which allowed him to transcend race, gender, and socioeconomic lines; and,

WHEREAS, Brian was able to recruit clients who needed treatment for their substance abuse problems; and,

WHEREAS, Brian assisted in developing and managing a new treatment center for those in the criminal justice system; and,

WHEREAS, Brian was instrumental in expanding the Drug Court from a focused, single purpose partnership between the Criminal Justice System and the treatment community to a comprehensive network of responding agencies; and,

WHEREAS, Brian was viewed as a role model father, continuously going beyond the traditional role of simply upkeep but, instead, taking an active part in the upbringing of his children and being a positive influence in the lives of other children in the community; and,

WHEREAS, Brian is survived by his four wonderful children, Brian, Jr., Brandon, Brandy and Brittany; and,

WHEREAS, Brian will be missed by those who knew and loved him, and will be remembered fondly for his true compassion for youth; and,

BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Brian Keith Harris, Sr. upon his untimely death, and extends its appreciation for his outst...
