Body
WHEREAS, since the 1992 adoption of the County's building code, found in chapter 54 of the Jackson County Code, several of the uniform or national codes adopted by reference as the County's code have been supplemented or updated; and,

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the County's building code be updated to reference the most current editions of these uniform and national codes; and,

WHEREAS, the revision of the building code to this effect is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Enacting Clause. Sections 5400. and 5401., Jackson County Code, 1984, are hereby repealed, and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as ยง5400., to read as follows:


5400. Building Code.
Certain documents, copies of which are on file and are open for inspection by the public in the offices of the director of public works and clerk of the county legislature, being marked and designated as:

Uniform Building Code, [1991] 1997 edition, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, [including the generic fire_resistive assemblies listed in the Fire Resistance Design Manual, Twelfth Edition, dated August, 1988, published by the Gypsum Association as referenced in Tables Nos. 43_A, 43_B, and 43_C of the specified Uniform Building Code, including Appendix Chapters as follows:
