Body
WHEREAS, the celebration of Elks National Youth Week will begin on Sunday, May 2, in 2,100 communities around the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of Elks National Youth Week is to recognize the youth in our community by sponsoring activities that foster community involvement and encourage young people to preserve and defend our American way of life; and,
WHEREAS, it is essential to recognize the vast array of contributions made by the youth of our communities; and,
WHEREAS, the long term significance of Elks National Youth Week is to aid and encourage the development of our future leaders; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature proclaims May 2-9, 2004, as Elks National Youth Week in Jackson County, and encourages the youth of our community to celebrate our American way of life by participating in the Elks National Youth Week events which are designed to honor our youth as vital contributors to our communities.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
