Body
WHEREAS, the County has been awarded a grant in the amount of $15,000.00 by the Missouri Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Division for a Youth Alcohol Project; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County is ranked 1st in the State of Missouri for alcohol-related vehicle crashes for the past five years and 2nd in the State of Missouri for traffic related vehicle crashes as a whole 9.2 % of all vehicle crashes involved underage drinking in 2004, and twelve vehicle-fatality crashes and 1,359 vehicle injury crashes in 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office recommends the use of funds for reimbursement of overtime used for driving while intoxicated enforcement and other alcohol related activities pursuant to a Cooperative Agreement ("Contract") with the Missouri Department of Transportation, a copy of which is attached hereto, for the grant term of October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant monies in the proper spending
account and execution of the Contract is required for acceptance of the grant award; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends this appropriation as an amendment to the proposed 2005 County budget; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2005 Grant Fund be and hereby is made:
