Body
WHEREAS, Virgle was born in Ketchum, Idaho, and later moved with his family to Keosaqua, Iowa, where he graduated from Van Buren High School; and,

WHEREAS, after high school, Virgle served in the U.S. Army, including service in Korea from 1959 to 1962, ultimately receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant E5; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle received his BA in Business Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and pursued graduate work in Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle later taught accounting and other business courses at Gates Business College in Waterloo, Iowa, and then moved to Kansas City in 1967 when he acquired a franchise for the Elaine Powers Reducing Salon; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle served as a staff auditor for a year with the City of Kansas City, and on May 23, 1968, became an internal auditor in the Jackson County Auditor's office; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle was then promoted to accounting manager, which included supervising both the Accounting and Collections Departments; and,

WHEREAS, on October 25, 1976, Virgle became Assistant to the Director of Revenue; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle was appointed to the position of Director of the Department of Finance on March 27, 1996, by County Executive Katheryn J. Shields; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle enjoys collecting coins, baseball cards, recipes, Randal Spangler prints, and original artwork, and also enjoys playing golf, pool, and blackjack; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle is held in high esteem by those he supervises and will be missed by his many friends at Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, Virgle has been married to his wife, Carol, sin...
