INTRODUCED BY Henry C. Rizzo, Dan Tarwater, Theresa Garza Ruiz, Fred Arbanas, Scott Burnett, James D. Tindall, Dennis Waits, Greg Grounds, and Bob Spence, County Legislators

Body
WHEREAS, Mary Jo Spino has served our community for 30 years, first working as a computer election specialist for the Kansas City Board of Elections and then serving as Clerk of the County Legislature since April 1991; and,

WHEREAS, as the Clerk of the County Legislature, Mary Jo works diligently to support the Legislature, maintaining official records of the County, preparing the agendas and journals for the weekly legislative meetings, supervising the Clerk's office staff, processing election filings for County candidates, and processing notary commissions for Jackson County applicants, among many other duties; and,

WHEREAS, Mary Jo's service to the community extends to volunteer activities at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Children's Mercy Hospital, St. Teresa's Academy, and participating in the Taking Care of Kansas City Annual Christmas Project; and,

WHEREAS, Mary Jo is also a member of Executive Women International, Beta Sigma Phi, National Association of Counties, former Board of Director for the National Association of County Recorders and Clerks, and current Vice President of the American Daughters of Columbus; and,

WHEREAS, Mary Jo was a member of the Jackson County Recycling Committee in 1996, the year the County won the Environmental Excellence Campaign Award; and,

WHEREAS, Mary Jo has demonstrated her dedication to her profession by pursuing several professional development certifications, including the National Association of Counties Advanced Leadership Training Program, Stephen Covey's First Things First - 7 Habits of Highly Effective Peopl...
