WHEREAS, Gerald Douglas was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and has dedicated his life to service, advocacy, and community empowerment; and,
WHEREAS, he has earned his Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Washburn University, laying the foundation for what would become a remarkable career spanning over 40 years in the Kansas City community; and,
WHEREAS, Gerald has shown tremendous leadership, compassion, and collaboration with the city of Kansas City and has been a champion for local organizations; and,
WHEREAS, his lifelong commitment to social work has been driven by a deep passion for helping others, uplifting families, and creating pathways to stability and self-sufficiency; and,
WHEREAS, before joining the Housing Authority of Kansas City (HAKC), Gerald served the community through his work with Restart, where he made a profound impact on individuals and families experiencing homelessness and hardship; and,
WHEREAS, Gerald began his journey at HAKC as a Case Worker, where his compassion, integrity, and commitment to excellence quickly set him apart; and,
WHEREAS, through years of dedicated service and leadership, Gerald rose to the position of Resident Services Director, where he has worked tirelessly to strengthen partnerships, expand resources, and ensure that families served by HAKC receive the highest level of support; and,
