Body
WHEREAS, certain areas of Fleming Park and Blue Springs Lake Park had gaps in the coverage for outdoor warning sirens, which was a concern for the safety of the citizens of Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, the County Executive's Office and the Department of Emergency Preparedness developed a plan for the placement and operation of additional outdoor warning sirens within the County's park system; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 17745, dated November 21, 2011, Jackson County entered into an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District and the City of Lee's Summit on behalf of the Lee's Summit Fire Department to relocate two outdoor warning sirens and purchase two new outdoor warning sirens for placement in Fleming Park and Blue Springs Lake Park; and,

WHEREAS, it was through the cooperative efforts of the Central Jackson County Emergency Management Agency (CJCEMA), the Lee's Summit Fire Department, the Jackson County Emergency Preparedness Department, Jackson County Parks and Recreation, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that this concern was addressed and the sirens were added to increase safety within the parks; and,

WHEREAS, officials at these agencies were especially instrumental in working closely with County officials to address this safety concern; and,

WHEREAS, this cooperative effort among these area agencies exhibits resourcefulness with a shared...
