Body
WHEREAS, the Legislative Auditor has submitted to the Legislature's Budget Committee five recommendations for increased legislative oversight of County financial operations; and,

WHEREAS, one of these recommendations deals with reporting on the status of County bank accounts; and,

WHEREAS, the Budget Committee has endorsed this recommendation; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Enacting Clause. Sections 555. and 556., Jackson County Code, 1984, are hereby enacted, to read as follows:

555. Bank Account Balances, Report.
On a monthly basis, the Chief Administrative Office shall file a report with the Clerk of the County Legislature and the Legislative Auditor showing the balance of each County bank account with a balance in excess of $100,000, and the balance of the same account for the same period during the previous year.

556. Bank Account Reconciliation.
On a monthly basis, the Chief Administrative Officer shall perform or cause to be performed book to bank account reconciliations for all County bank accounts and reconciliations for all political subdivision property tax collection accounts. In addition, on or before March 31 of each year, the Chief Administrative Officer shall file a report with the Clerk of the Legislature and the Legislative Auditor showing the most recent reconciliations performed pursuant to this section.



Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
