INTRODUCED BY Scott Burnett, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, the County's employee benefits broker/consultant, CBIZ, has received and reviewed proposals from Saint Luke's-Shawnee Mission Health System, Heart of America Family Services, and New Directions for the provision of a group employee assistance program to County employees; and,

WHEREAS, New Directions utilizes the same network of mental health providers as the County's medical plan; and,

WHEREAS, New Directions offered comparable benefits to St. Luke's at a lower premium; and,

WHEREAS, New Directions services over a million lives nationwide and 200,000 in the Kansas City area; and,

WHEREAS, New Directions will provide up to 6 face to face counseling sessions, a live 24/7 help line, an interactive web site, up to 10 hours of on-site training, up to 10 hours of on-site critical incident crisis intervention, and unlimited telephonic management consultation to County employees; and,

WHEREAS, CBIZ has recommended offering the New Directions Employee Assistance Program to County employees at the following rate:

therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with New Directions for an employee assistance program as described above.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
