Body
WHEREAS, Jackie Owensby of Raytown South High School was named by The Kansas City Star as her school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2002; and,
WHEREAS, Jackie ranks first in her class with a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 un-weighted scale; and,
WHEREAS, she has six varsity letters, two in cross country, three in track, and one in basketball; and,
WHEREAS, she was state-qualified for track in 2000, all conference track in 2001, two-time all-conference in cross-country, and conference champion in 1,600 meter relay and 3,200 meter relay; and,
WHEREAS, Jackie is a three year member of the National Honor Society, a four year member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, and a two year member of the newspaper staff, serving as Co-Sports Editor her senior year; and,
WHEREAS, Jackie is involved in many church and volunteer-related activities including Fellowship of Christian Athletes (2 years), Club 121(3 years), Young Life (1 year), and is a member of the planning and leadership team of the youth group at St. Paul's Nazarene Church; and,
WHEREAS, Jackie is the daughter of Richard and Sharon Owensby of Raytown; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Jackie Owensby upon being named among The Kansas City Star's Scholar-Athletes of the Year for 2002.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
