Body
WHEREAS, James C. Hays began his writing career nearly 30 years ago while serving in the service, where he wrote political pieces and short fictional skits; and,

WHEREAS, through the years he has also wrote several short stories and poetry; and,

WHEREAS, in late 1995, Mr. Hays began his research for a book which he ultimately called "...I'm just an ordinary girl." The Sharon Kinne Story; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Hays' interest in Sharon Kinne stemmed from childhood memories of living close to an area where Ms. Kinne was accused of murdering a woman; and,

WHEREAS, Ms. Kinne grew up in the Independence area and became front page news in the 1960s as a long tale, unfolded leading to her possible involvement in three murders, including that of her husband, her lover's wife, and a man she met in Mexico; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Hays' investigation for the book took him all over the country, conducting interviews with people connected with Ms. Kinne; and,

WHEREAS, one of his most memorable and positive experiences in his research was found at the Jackson County Records Center where he found information to incorporate into his book; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Hays is not only an author, but has also been a factory worker at Allied Signal for 20 years; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Hays has two children and lives in Sibley, Missouri, with his wife Dorothy; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Hays has served on Independence's Mayor's Storm Water Advisory Board, the Sibley City Council, and served as Sibley's mayor for one year; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes...
