Body
WHEREAS, Pawsperity is a non for profit organization that was established in 2016 to help families rise from generational poverty through job training in the skill of dog grooming; and,
WHEREAS, Pawsperity is the only nonprofit grooming school in the country, training a vulnerable community in a much needed skill; and,
WHEREAS, Pawsperity's founding CEO Natasha Herdman saw that Kansas City's homeless families had a barrier of securing gainful employment; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Herdman saw an opportunity in pet grooming being influenced by the career of her mother who was a long time pet groomer, she started a non for profit organization centered around training parents in the art of pet grooming; and,
WHEREAS, Pawsperity has trained many graduates through their six-to-eight-month program, graduates gain skills in dog grooming, financial literacy, parenting, and a host of other skills that allow them to be successful in the job market; and,
WHEREAS, Pawsperity has gained significant success through the years, 100% of students have job placement by the time they graduate, and over 130 students have graduated from Pawsperity since 2016; and,
WHEREAS, Pawsperity has achieved great success in their endeavors of pet grooming and job placement which should be honored and recognized; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature extends its heartfelt congratulations and deepest appreciation to Pawsperity on their exceptional service, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Jackson County and its pet community.
