Body
WHEREAS, UNICO, a national organization composed of men of Italian descent who meet together for constructive community service, is based upon the principle of service above self; and,

WHEREAS, as the largest Italian member service organization in America, UNICO supports various local charities and helps families in need through their religious organization or local food pantries; and,

WHEREAS, each year since 1951, the Kansas City Chapter of UNICO has been selecting an individual of Italian descent who has made outstanding contributions to the community; and,

WHEREAS, Ross P. Marine, DHL, MHA, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Trinity Lutheran Hospital, and former Administrator, Truman Medical Center East and the Director of Public Health, Jackson County Health Department, is the deserving recipient of this prestigious award for 1998; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Marine has been instrumental in providing quality health care to the medically uninsured residents of Eastern Jackson County for the past eight years; and,

WHEREAS, through his dynamic leadership, Mr. Marine has also been instrumental in implementing an organization-wide development plan enabling TMC East associates, medical/dental staff and faculty, and auxiliary/volunteers to identify and implement changes to provide quality care for the citizens of Eastern Jackson County; and,
