A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute an agreement with the Curators of the University of Missouri to provide the local match to a federal grant for its UMKC Addictions Training Center for the continuation of its substance abuse training program at a cost to the County not to exceed $150,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the University of Missouri at Kansas City's UMKC Additions Training Center is a substance abuse training program which emphasizes training of certified counselors employed by Jackson County treatment providers, provides vocational resources for training and continuing education for professionals, and applies new knowledge and skills to the practice of treatment and prevention to improve outcomes of COMBAT-funded initiatives; and,
WHEREAS, the University has requested $150,000 in local matching funds to secure its 1998-99 grant from the United States Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) in the amount of $1,495,763.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has carefully reviewed this proposal from the University and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute the attached Agreement, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference, with the Curators of the University of Missouri at Kansas City; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payments on this Agreement...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
