Body
WHEREAS, former County Legislator John C. Graham Sr. of Lee's Summit, MO, has been selected to receive the 2003 Animal Science Distinguished Alumni award from Penn State University's College of Agricultural Sciences; and,
WHEREAS, in the mid-1980s, John C. Graham Sr. co-founded the First National Bank of Missouri in Lee's Summit; and,
WHEREAS, he currently serves on its Board of Directors, while his son, John C. Graham Jr., serves as president of the branch; and,
WHEREAS, he served as Chairman of the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Lee's Summit Strategic Planning Committee, and board member of Lee's Summit Social Services; and,
WHEREAS, he is chairman of the board for the Lee's Summit Housing Authority and a board member of the Metropolitan Community College Foundation of Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, John also served as senior vice commander of his local VFW post; and,
WHEREAS, John ably represented the 6th District on the Legislature from 1994 to 1998; and,
WHEREAS, John was a guest of honor at the 2003 Alumni Weekend Celebration held April 11-12, 2003, at the University Park, Pennsylvania campus; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates John C. Graham Sr., upon his selection to receive the 2003 Animal Science Distinguished Alumni award from Penn State University's College of Agricultural Sciences.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
