Body
WHEREAS, the City of Oak Grove, in the furnishing of law enforcement services to its residents, desires to improve the quality of these services in a financially responsible manner, and secure for its residents a trained police force operating under the highest standards; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff of Jackson County is capable of providing the kind of law enforcement services needed by the City; and,
WHEREAS, the County Legislature, under Article II, Section 16(13), of the Charter for Jackson County, Missouri, has the power to contract and cooperate with any other municipality for such services; and,
WHEREAS, such contracts are further authorized and provided for by Article VII, Section 5 of the Charter and Sections 70.210 through 70.320, inclusive, Revised Statutes of Missouri (1994); and,
WHEREAS, the City shall pay to the County the total sum of $176,991.00 payable in monthly installments of $14,749.25 and, in addition, may utilize one additional deputy at the cost of $20.20 per hour; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is authorized to execute on behalf of the County a contract with the City of Oak Grove, Missouri (said contract is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference) for the providing of city police protection...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
