Body
WHEREAS, former Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Ed Budde will be inducted with the 56th Induction Class into the State of Michigan Sports Hall of Fame at a ceremony scheduled to be held in August 2012; and

WHEREAS, the 56th Induction Class was selected by a specially-formed Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Legends Task Force, comprised of a statewide, blue-ribbon group of sports journalists, college and professional sports officials, and former athletes and coaches; and,

WHEREAS, Ed was a 1962 Michigan State University All-American and was the number one draft pick of the American Football League's Kansas City Chiefs in 1963, where he played for 14 seasons, competing in 184 games; and,

WHEREAS, during Ed's professional football career, he was voted to six AFL All-Star Games and two NFL Pro-Bowl Games, was voted to the All-Time AFL Team by the Professional Football Hall of Fame, and was the first offensive lineman to be selected by the Associated Press as an Offensive Player of the Week; and,

WHEREAS, Ed helped the Kansas City Chiefs earn a berth in Super Bowl I and assisted in bringing the team to victory in Super Bowl IV against the Minnesota Vikings; and,

WHEREAS, in 1983, Ed was inducted into the Kansas City Chief's Hall of Fame and in 1998 he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame; and,

WHEREAS, Ed earned the honor of election to the Michigan State University All Centennial Team in 1996 and was inducted into the Michigan State Hall of Fame in 2010; and,

WHEREAS, Ed has served as President of the NFL Alumni Kansas City Chapter for 30 years, has been a member of the Chiefs Ambassadors for 24 years, and a ...
