Body
WHEREAS, Toni Picerno, daughter of John and Paula Picerno and senior at Lee's Summit High School, has earned the designation of overall girls winner of The Kansas City Star's 2004 Scholar-Athlete award; and,

WHEREAS, Toni maintains a 4.3 grade point average, enjoys a class rank of fourth among 584 seniors, and is the president of the National Honor Society, a member of the student senate, a member of the student activity advisory committee, and freshman mentor; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to her remarkable academic achievements, Toni is a critical component to the success of the Lee's Summit High School sports program where she was the first girl at Lee's Summit High School to earn 12 letters in sports, and received nine all-conference awards in three sports, and received all-state awards twice in cross country and track; and,

WHEREAS, Toni was voted homecoming queen, dedicated many hours to volunteer with the life skills/multiple disabilities class, and is committed to being a positive role model in academia, sports, and community service; and

WHEREAS, Toni's future plans are to play basketball while attending Webster University; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Toni Picerno as the overall girls winner of The Kansas City Star's 2004 Scholar-Athlete award and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in her endeavors now and in the future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
