Body
WHEREAS, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD), has requested funding from the County for the Considering Adolescent Needs ("CAN") program to provide prevention education and awareness to youth to enable them to avoid the onset of alcoholism and drug abuse, at a cost to the County not to exceed $16,666.64; and,
WHEREAS, the primary purpose of the CAN program for teens is to serve those youth living in a household with an addicted or alcoholic adult, with a goal to provide intensive CAN education/intervention programs for youth willing to identify themselves as living in a household with an addicted/alcoholic adult; and,
WHEREAS, the primary funder for this is Heart of America United Way in the award amount of $18,059.00; and
WHEREAS, NCADD has requested anti-drug sales tax matching funds to serve as part of the required local match for this program; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has recommended the expenditure of anti-drug sales tax matching funds for this program; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County a Cooperative Agreement with the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc., of Kansas City, Missouri, at a cost to the County not to exceed $16,666.64, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contact.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
