Body

WHEREAS, Northland Academy senior Evan Joseph Harmon has successfully completed all requirements to attain Scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, and will be recognized on November 8, 2009, at 12:30 p.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; and,

 

WHEREAS, Evan began scouting as a Tiger Cub, Cub Scout, and Weblos Scout in Pack 40 in Highland, Illinois, and earned both the Parvuli Dei religious award and the Arrow of Light; and,

 

WHEREAS, Evan is currently a member of Troop 80 and has held leadership positions of Patrol Leader, Den Chief, Troop Guide, Historian, and Senior Patrol Leader; and,

 

WHEREAS, at Northland Academy, Evan is a Senior High Representative of the Student Council; and,

 

WHEREAS, Evan is also a First Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9272, where he has helped with various service projects and fundraisers such as Pancake Breakfasts, Fish Frys, and Vacation Bible School, is a member and usher of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and is a member of Good Shepherd's Youth Group, where he has participated in activities including mission trips, canoe trips, Harvester's food drives, and other charitable projects; and,

 

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Evan made two full size picnic tables for the Lakeside Nature Center; and,

 

WHEREAS, Evan is a "Warrior" in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say Boy Scout Honor Program, his tribal name is "Rumbling Sky," he has attended camp at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation for the past three years, and he has earned a total of 31 merit badges; and,

 

WHEREAS, Evan's parents, Genevieve and Glenn, and his siblings, Mack, Gus, Sebastian, Ignatius, and Louisa, join in Evan's celebration of this honor; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Evan Joseph Harmon upon successfully completing all requirements to attain Scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, and extends well-deserved recognition for his contributions to the Jackson County community.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
