Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 12923, dated October 18, 1999, the County did award one-year contracts for group health insurance to FirstGuard and Kaiser Permanente; and,
WHEREAS, FirstGuard provided for three one-year guaranteed renewal terms and Kaiser Permanente did not provide guaranteed renewal terms; and
WHEREAS, FirstGuard has offered a second year renewal at a 9% increase and Kaiser Permanente has offered a second year renewal at a 10.7% increase; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources recommends renewal of the County's current contracts for group health insurance for County employees for 2001 upon terms and conditions set forth in the original agreements, including an increase in rates for all plans, as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the extension and renewal of the health insurance contract of Kaiser Permanente, consisting of a Staff/IPA Model, and FirstGuard, consisting of both a Staff/IPA and POS Model upon terms and conditions set out in the original agreements, be, and hereby are approved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive be, and hereby is, authorized to execute all documents necessary to effect these extensions and renewals.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
