Body
WHEREAS, Darrin Kraft of Lee's Summit, Missouri, recently captured the world champion yearling gelding title at the Ford American Quarter House Youth Association World Championship show in Oklahoma City; and,
WHEREAS, fifteen entries competed for the world champion honor, with Darrin showing his American Quarter horse, Sacreds Package, who is a one year old sorrel gelding; and,
WHEREAS, the prize package for the world champion title included a custom designed gold-tone trophy, Montana Silversmiths World Champion buckle, a Cripple Creek Leather jacket, Professionals' Choice products, and a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket; and,
WHEREAS, Darrin qualified and showed five horses at the World Championship Show, finishing 5th, 8th, and 10th in his other halter class showings; and,
WHEREAS, the Ford American Quarter House Youth Association World Championship Show is the world's largest single-breed youth world championship show; and,
WHEREAS, youth around the world must qualify for the event by winning a predetermined number of points to earn the right to compete in each of the 33 classes representing halter, English, and western horsemanship disciplines; and,
WHEREAS, Darrin started showing at the age of nine, and has shown and placed at the world show ever since; and,
WHEREAS, Darrin has also won the Superior Youth Halter Horse Award on I'm A Fancy Jose, has over 20 halter register of merits, has won numerous grand champion awards, was the 2007 high point youth halter horse exhibitor in the Missouri Quarter Horse Youth Association, and currently is the youth president of that organization; and,
WHEREAS, Darrin's parents, Matt and Cheryl Kraft and Sandee Kraft, join in Darrin's celebration of his first world championship award; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Darrin Kraft on winning the world champion yearling gelding title at the Ford American Quarter House Youth Association World Championship show.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
