A RESOLUTION expressing sincere thanks and appreciation to the Independence Square Tax Benefit District and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 124 for volunteering their time and hard work on the weekend of October 20 and 21, 2001, to install Christmas lights in the historic Jackson County Courthouse in Independence.

Body

WHEREAS, the citizens of Jackson County have a great tradition of helping their communities by donating their time and labor; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Independence Square Tax Benefit District for the last 12 years has provided Christmas lighting for the Historic Jackson County Courthouse located in Independence, Missouri; and,

 

WHEREAS, this Courthouse is a centerpiece of the historical tapestry and the Truman legacy in Jackson County Missouri; and,

 

WHEREAS, our 33rd President, Harry S. Truman served as Presiding Judge of the Jackson County Court from 1927-1934; and,

 

WHEREAS, in this time of national tragedy we harken back to the Truman Era, knowing that this nation as a free people has met challenges in the past and that we as Americans will endure and prosper in the future; and,

WHEREAS, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 124, in the American spirit of volunteerism and generosity, devoted their time and hard work on the weekend of October 20 and 21, 2001, by installing these lights as a gift to the people of Jackson County; and,

 

WHEREAS, Dorace Wilson and other members of the Independence Square Tax Benefit District worked with the IBEW Local 124 and navigated through the bureaucratic red tape to create a showpiece for our community; and,

 

WHEREAS, members of IBEW Local 124 and others who devoted their time and hard work included:  Chris Heegn and Chris Heegn II, Joe Buffa, Kermit Kauffman, Bob Busby, David Precht, Tom Livingston, Bob Mitchell, Shawn O'Donnell, Jim Higgins, Travis Ueligger, Todd Coffer, David Hoffman, Kristopher Hoffman, Duane Fiene, Dale Fickel, Todd Neaves, and Dennis Corkran; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature expresses sincere thanks and appreciation to the Independence Square Tax Benefit District and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 124 for their contribution to the citizens of Jackson County.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
