IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION congratulating Blue Springs High School's 1999 softball team on winning the Missouri class 4A state championship. Intro RESOLUTION #12934, November 8, 1999 INTRODUCED BY Terry Young, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, under the outstanding tutelage of Coach Roger Lower, and Assistant Coaches Jim Brandner, Denise Parker, and Zoe Wheeler, the Blue Springs High School 1999 softball team, the Wildcats, won the state Class 4A girls softball championship in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday, October 16; and, WHEREAS, the Wildcats achieved their victory by defeating Cor Jesu Academy of St. Louis 2-1; and, WHEREAS, this was the second state softball championship for the Wildcats, the first being in 1996; and, WHEREAS, the Wildcats' record was 30-2, setting a school record for most victories in a season; and, WHEREAS, leading up to the final win were victories at the Cor Jesu Invitational Tournament, the Blue Springs South Invitational Tournament, the Kewpie Klassic Invitational Tournament, the District 15 Championship, and the Sectional Championship; and, WHEREAS, the members of the 1999 softball team are Sarah Allen, Whitney Brownfield, Sara Cole, Jessica Heath, Rachelle Heath, Tiffany Horan, Holly Kessler, Heather Maggard, Lindsey Major, Courtney Martin, Ashley Maybee, Shauna McGinnis, Jennie Meisel, Casey Parker, and Blair Smith; and, WHEREAS, during the championship game, Heather Maggard tied the school record for the most RBI's (2), Sara Cole tied the record for the most hits (3), Ashley Maybee tied the record for the most triples (1), and Rachelle Heath set a new record for most assists (9); and, WHEREAS, the Wildcats are to be commended for attaining the status of number one in their class in the State of Missouri, and for their hard work in reaching this distinction; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Blue Springs High School's 1999 girls softball team, the Wildcats, and its coaching staff, on winning the Missouri Class 4A girls softball state championship and for an outstanding softball season. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
