Body
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City's Smart Moves program is designed to help young people develop skills to resist alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse; and,
 
WHEREAS, this program serves the Club's Greater Kansas City and eastern Jackson County locations; and,
 
WHEREAS, this program is funded by a grant from the United Way, in the amount of $461,585.00; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City has requested anti-drug sales tax funds in the amount of $100,000.00, to serve as a local match to the grant; and,
 
WHEREAS, the contract period for this proposal is January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2008; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, to provide local grant match funds, at a cost to the County not to exceed $100,000.00; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment, on the Agreement.
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
