Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4334, dated August 8, 2011, the Legislature did authorize a special election to be held on November 8, 2011, to submit to the qualified voters of Jackson County a question authorizing Jackson County to impose a countywide sales tax at the rate of one-eighth of one percent for the benefit of the Kansas City Zoological District for the support of zoological activities within the district; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 4334, community proponents of this measure, including The Friends of the Zoo, Inc., have submitted sufficient funds to the County to cover the cost of this special election; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary in order to place the required funds in the proper spending account; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to issue a check in the amount of $455,000.00 to the Jackson County Election Board to cover the costs of the special election to be held November 8, 2011.

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
