Body
WHEREAS, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy has been ranked as the third best public high school in Missouri, according to Newsweek Magazine; and,
WHEREAS, in Newsweek's annual "America's Best High Schools" report, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy ranked 181 out of 1,000 public schools nationwide; and,
WHEREAS, no other school on the Missouri side of the metropolitan area was ranked; and,
WHEREAS, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy also was ranked higher than the seven Kansas schools that were ranked by Newsweek; and,
WHEREAS, Newsweek bases its ranking on a school's graduation rate, college matriculation, advanced placement tests and scores, average ACT and SAT scores and the advance placement courses offered; and,
WHEREAS, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy's ranking is based on its 95 percent graduation rate and its 97 percent college enrollment rate, despite serving a population of students in which 71 percent qualify for free or reduced lunch; and,
WHEREAS, U.S. News and World Report also ranked Lincoln College Preparatory Academy third in the state of Missouri in its 2012 ranking of America's Best High Schools; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Lincoln College Preparatory Academy on its attaining the rank of the third best public high school in Missouri and for helping to pave the way for a bright future for students in the Kansas City Missouri School District.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
