A RESOLUTION awarding a twenty-four month contract with three twelve-month options to extend for the lease of a commercial dishwasher for use by the Department of Corrections, to Heartland Auto Chlor Systems of Wichita, KS, under the terms and conditions of Request for Proposals No. 6-11, at an actual cost to the County for 2011 not to exceed $2,730.00, and declaring certain property obsolete and authorizing its disposal.

Body
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing has solicited proposals under the terms and conditions of Request for Proposal No. 6-11 for the lease of a commercial dishwasher for use by the Department of Corrections; and,
WHEREAS, upon researching its options, the Department of Corrections determined that purchasing a new dishwasher would cost about $100,000.00, while a dishwasher could be leased at an annual cost of $4,680.00 and at a cost to the County for 2011 not to exceed $2,730.00; and,
WHEREAS, a total of eleven notifications were distributed and two responses were received, as follows:

WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends that award be made to Heartland Auto Chlor Systems of Wichita, KS, as the lowest and best bidder; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends that the present non-functional dishwasher at the Department of Corrections be declared unusable surplus property; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Director of Finance and Purchasing, and that the Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be, and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract, to the extent that sufficient appropriations to the using agency are contained in the then current County budget; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the surplus property within the Department of Corrections be and hereby is declared obsolete and unusable, and that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to dispose of it as scrap metal pursuant to chapter 11 of the Jackson County Code.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
