IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION congratulating Bob Hedberg upon his 35 years with the Jackson County Public Works Department, and wishing him well on his retirement. Intro RESOLUTION 12760, June 7, 1999 INTRODUCED BY Dennis Waits, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, in 1956, Bob Hedberg's first contact with Jackson County came while he was working on construction, surveying Jackson County dam and lake roads as a Black & Veatch employee; and, WHEREAS, in the summer of 1962 Bob began working for the Jackson County Public Works Department and has worked in various capacities since that time, including chief draftsman, right-of-way agent, survey chief, surveys/plans engineer, project engineer, project manager, construction chief, Redevelopment Authority advisor, planning and zoning administrator, grant administrator, interim planning and zoning director, Board of Zoning Adjustment advisor, Plan Commission advisor, flood plain manager, 9-1-1-coordinator, permit and zoning coordinator, and building official; and, WHEREAS, Bob distinguished himself through his career by managing the construction of Blue Summit Industrial Park, Blue Summit Redevelopment projects, creating the E-9-1-1 address system, and becoming the first flood plain manager and building official; and, WHEREAS, Bob was also a dedicated member of the team which created the Jackson County Master Plan and Unified Development Code, reviewed approximately 700 subdivisions, and handled hundreds of zoning and permit cases; and, WHEREAS, Bob assisted Harvey Jones with the creation of the Little Blue Valley Sewer, and served as head bartender at 15 of Harvey Jones' famous Christmas parties; and, WHEREAS, some of Bob's civic responsibilities included serving on numerous MARC committees, the APWA, APA, and ICBO; and, WHEREAS, Bob spent ten years as secretary and president of the Heart of America German Shorthair Club before spending the last 30 years as a dedicated volunteer for the BSA, and member of the Heart of America Council Properties Committee, and serving as Chairman of its Property Maintenance Committee; and, WHEREAS, Bob has two children, Lisa and Randy, and many wonderful grandchildren; and, WHEREAS, friends and co-workers will miss Bob as he leaves Jackson County and will remember him for his outgoing personality, good sense of humor, and the respect he easily draws from those around him; and, WHEREAS, admiration, respect, and warm friendship go out to Bob for his dedicated service to Jackson County; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Bob Hedberg upon his 35 years with Jackson County, and wishes him well in all future endeavors. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
