Body

WHEREAS, Kristin N. Singleton, daughter of Jim and Debbie Singleton, is the recipient of the National Dean's List honorary award for the second consecutive year; and,

 

WHEREAS, the National Dean's List honorary award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed upon college students, with only half of one percent of the nation's students receiving this award; and,

 

WHEREAS, the National Dean's List, established in 1978, recognizes exceptional college students nationwide who are nominated by educational professionals, leadership organizations, performing arts organizations, and athletic directors for their academic and leadership achievements; and,

 

WHEREAS, Kristin is a junior elementary education major at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where her many notable accomplishments and memberships include: Dean's List, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Girls' State, Phi Beta Kappa, Community College Leadership Scholarship, Missouri Teachers Scholarship, Carpenter's Local 61 Scholarship, Aquila Scholarship, Rick Sutcliff Scholarship, Bernard C. Campbell Scholarship, and Lee's Summit Teacher's Association Scholarship; and,

 

WHEREAS, Kristin is actively involved in the community at the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, Campus Crusade for Christ, Deerbrook College bible study, and fund-raising for ALS, Alzheimer's, Trolley Run, and Race for the Future; and,

                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

WHEREAS, Kristin's work experience includes preschool teacher, Lee's Summit substitute teacher, personal care assistant for a 4-year-old disabled child, and nanny; and,

 

WHEREAS, Kristin deserves recognition for earning a spot on the National Dean's List and her commitment to the youth of the metropolitan area; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes Kristin N. Singleton as a distinguished recipient of the National Dean's List honorary award for the second consecutive year, and extends genuine appreciation for her commitment to the field of education and the youth of our community.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
