A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, relating to the Hazardous Waste Collection Program, to provide for the joint recycling of fluorescent lamps and ballasts, at the estimated annual cost to the County of $1,500.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City and Jackson County are required and authorized to provide for their residents facilities for the safe and sanitary disposal of solid waste; and,
WHEREAS, the City has established a Regional Household Hazardous Waste facility and conducts periodic collections from City facilities of Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator waste such as fluorescent lamps and ballasts; and,
WHEREAS, Kansas City is offering participation in this Hazardous Waste Collection Program to the County, which is also a small quantity generator, and the County wishes to participate in said program; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Intergovernmental Agreement provides a suitable mechanism by which to implement the County's participation in this City program; and,
WHEREAS, under this Intergovernmental Agreement, the County will pay the actual costs of the City's services, as such services are utilized, the estimated annual amount of which is $1,500.00; and,
WHEREAS, this Intergovernmental Agreement is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments on the Agreement to the extent that sufficient appropriations to the using spending agencies are included in the then current Jackson County budget.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
