A RESOLUTION recognizing Deputy Tony D. Uredi, an officer with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, for his outstanding service to the citizens of Jackson County and his quick action to save a child's life.

Body
WHEREAS, on April 12, 2014, Jackson County Deputy Tony D. Uredi was conducting a car stop after witnessing an accident while off-duty, at approximately 2 a.m. near Armour Boulevard and Broadway; and,
WHEREAS, at that same time, Janell Stevens and Jose A. Coronado, residents in that area, were up late at night tending to their ill infant; and,
WHEREAS, suddenly the infant began having seizures, difficulty breathing, and was beginning to go limp; and,
WHEREAS, Janell Stevens had seen Deputy Uredi stopped in front of her house and ran to him with her infant, crying for help; and,
WHEREAS, Deputy Uredi quickly assessed the situation, radioed for emergency response, and tended to the infant; and,
WHEREAS, as the child was fighting for breath and turning blue, Deputy Uredi began Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); and,
WHEREAS, within minutes the infant began to take breaths and regain consciousness; and,
WHEREAS, it was through Deputy Uredi's quick actions and efforts to resuscitate an infant in distress that he was able to save the child's life; and,
WHEREAS Janell Stevens and Jose A. Coronado and the citizens of Jackson County are grateful for Deputy Uredi's actions that night; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Deputy Tony D. Uredi of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for his meritorious service to the citizens of Jackson County and the community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
