Body
WHEREAS, each year the members of the Teamster National Black Caucus ("TNBC") present an annual conference to address the specific concerns of the African American labor community; and,
WHEREAS, TNBC upholds the principles of the labor movement and fosters the opportunity for all Teamsters to serve in leadership capacities throughout the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and its affiliates; and,
WHEREAS, TNBC unites African Americans, other minorities, and all persons of good will for education and training about the Trade Union movement; and,
WHEREAS, TNBC promotes cultural, civic, legislative, political, educational, fraternal, charitable, welfare, social, and other activities which further the interest of minorities; and,
WHEREAS, TNBC assists other organizations that possess its common purpose financially, morally, and otherwise; and,
WHEREAS, TNBC engages in activities which will advance, both directly and indirectly, the interest of the organization and its members in the community and the nation; and,
WHEREAS, TNBC assists other chapters, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and its affiliates; and,
WHEREAS, the 2007 TNBC conference will be held on August 15-16, 2007, at the Clarion Hotel in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby commends the Teamster National Black Caucus on its 2007 annual conference and extends sincere gratitude for its contributions across the nation, and especially for those made to the Jackson County community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
