Title

AN ORDINANCE enacting subsection 24005.26., Jackson County Code, 1984, relating to wedding and events facilities within the unincorporated areas of Jackson County.

ORDINANCE NO. 5975, April 21, 2025

Body

 WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended modifications to the County’s Unified Development Code, governing the development of land in unincorporated Jackson County; and,

 

WHEREAS, the adoption of these modifications will provide for more orderly development in the unincorporated County; and,

 

WHEREAS, at its meeting of March 20, 2025, the Plan Commission unanimously recommended these modifications; and,

 

WHEREAS, the recommended amendments are in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

 

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:

 

Section A.  Enacting Clause.  1. Sections 24004.26., Jackson County, 1984, are hereby amended to read as follows:

 

24004.26 WEDDING AND EVENTS CENTERS

Wedding and Event Centers may be permitted within District GB (General Business) and District AG (Agricultural) provided that the following conditions are satisfied:

 

a.                      A minimum of ten (10) acres are required within District AG (Agricultural), and a

Conditional Use Permit is required. Within District AG (Agricultural) buildings

shall be located at least 200 feet from the nearest property line.

 

b.                     The facility must be on a road classified as a Collector or above.

 

c. Hard surface parking shall be provided for normal everyday business including the

appropriate number of required ADA parking spaces as required by Section

24006.7.

 

     d. No outside activities permitted other than wedding ceremonies.

 

     e. Hours of operation shall be limited to 10:00 am to 11:00 pm.

 

     f. No overnight stay of travel trailers or recreational vehicles will be allowed.

 

     g. The facility should have an adequate wastewater treatment capacity.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by the County Executive.
