IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute contracts with certain municipalities within Jackson County for the purpose of funding their 1996-1997 Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) or similar anti-drug programs, at a total cost to the County not to exceed $1,045,022.89. Intro RESOLUTION 11678, March 31, 1997 INTRODUCED BY Dennis Waits, Lisa White Hardwick, Fred Arbanas, John Patrick Burnett, Carl Bussey, Victor E. Callahan, Dan Tarwater, Dixie M. Flynn, and John C. Graham, County Legislators Body WHEREAS, representatives from all municipalities in Jackson County whose police departments sponsor Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) or similar anti-drug programs have make a joint request to the COMBAT Commission and County Legislature, regarding the formula for Jackson County's funding of these programs for the 1996-1997 term; and, WHEREAS, the consensus reached among the municipalities and COMBAT staff was that these programs be funded in the following amounts: MUNICIPALITY ALLOCATION Kansas City $378,408.25 Independence $324,507.08 Lee's Summit $176,003.84 Blue Springs $55,001.20 Grain Valley $11,000.29 Raytown (Here's Looking at $44,000.96 You 2000 Program) Grandview $45,100.98 Buckner $11,000.29 TOTAL $1,045,022.89 and, WHEREAS, these recommendations take into account federal grants received by the cities of Blue Springs and Grandview which those cities will also utilize for their DARE programs; and, WHEREAS, at its meeting of September 12, 1996, the COMBAT Commission endorsed the recommendations of the municipalities and agencies involved; and, WHEREAS, the attached form contract provides a suitable mechanism by which the requested funds can be transferred to the participating municipalities; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute contracts with the cities of Kansas City, Independence, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Raytown, Grandview, Grain Valley, and Buckner, in the aggregate amount of $1,045,022.89, in a form substantially similar to that attached; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contracts. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
