Body
WHEREAS, on May 27, 2008, Arbitrator Robert G. Bailey issued a ruling upholding a grievance filed by Local 42, International Association of Fire Fighters concerning the entitlement of employees it represents in the Prosecuting Attorney's Office to certain salary increases for the 2007 calendar year called for under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the County and Local 42; and,
WHEREAS, Prof. Bailey's reasoning also applies to salary increases due under the MOU in 2008; and,
WHEREAS, since the date of the ruling, the parties have conducted a series of meetings to determine how the ruling affects the entitlements of individual employees; and,
WHEREAS, these meetings are continuing but the parties are in agreement on certain minimum raises to which affected employees are entitled for 2007 and 2008; and,
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that these raises be paid out before the end of 2008; and,
WHEREAS, in order to do so, an appropriation is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that these funds will be reimbursed to the General Fund out of the Prosecuting Attorney's Bad Check and Delinquent Tax Collection Funds; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
