Body
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney was empowered by ยง9307., Jackson County Code, 1984, to make recommendations to the Legislature for the expenditure of Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds to match grants from governmental and private sources for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders and the prevention of drug offenses; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed a proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital for its Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program; and,
WHEREAS, the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program is a inter-generational model whereby trained volunteers provide a role model for parents through peer support in the critical post treatment stage through visits with the family and children; and,
WHEREAS, this program is an effort which includes information on accessing other community support organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows staff provide direct services in supportive counseling, and parenting education through in-home weekly visits for at least four hours; and,
WHEREAS, the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program receives federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services in the amount of $50,000; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has carefully reviewed this proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has recommended funding in the amount of $40,000 from the grant match account for the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows proposal; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute an agreement, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, with Children's Mercy Hospital for the Family Friends - Healthy Tomorrows program; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
