A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation for the purpose of sponsoring the Buck O’Neal Negro Leagues Baseball Classic, at an actual cost to the County of $2,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation is conducting the Buck O’Neal Negro Leagues Baseball Classic baseball tournament over the weekend of June 20-22, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, this tournament will feature eight teams from around the country which are participating in the RBI (Reviving Baseball in the Inner City) program; and,
WHEREAS, the Commission has requested that the County co-sponsor this event, at a cost to the County of $2,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, in return for this sponsorship fee, the Parks and Recreation Department and its programs will be featured in publicity materials and signage for the event; and,
WHEREAS, the sponsorship of this program is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
