A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Legislature to the family and friends of Charlotte J. Waits, upon the occasion of her death.

RESOLUTION  # 15172, September 27, 2004

 

 

INTRODUCED BY                     Fred Arbanas, County Legislator

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, the members of the Legislature extend their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Charlotte J. Waits, who departed this life on Wednesday, September 8, 2004; and,

 

WHEREAS, Charlotte was born in Meadville, MO, on May 16, 1925, to Earl and Vera Chalfant and was the third of four daughters; and,

 

WHEREAS, Charlotte married Alvin E. Waits on July 4, 1942 and took on the difficult duties and responsibilities of a military wife during World War II; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1947, Charlotte and Alvin relocated to Independence, MO, and started Waits Service Station which was a pillar of the neighborhood and community for many years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Charlotte provided a loving and nurturing family environment enjoyed by her three sons, Dennis R. Waits, Terry M. Waits, and James A. Waits, all of Independence, MO, her grandchildren, Courtney Waits, Paige Waits, Lindsey Waits, Lauren Waits, Jonathan Waits and Jamie Waits, her sisters, and many nieces and nephews ; and,

 

WHEREAS, in addition to her devotion as a  mother and "Mimi", Charlotte was active in the ABWA, a staunch Democrat, a Kansas City baseball fan, and loved traveling, playing bridge, reading and quilting; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Charlotte J. Waits and extends sincere appreciation for the contributions Charlotte made to the community during her life.

 

Enacted and Approved

 

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
