A RESOLUTION honoring the life and achievements of Joe Serviss.

RESOLUTION NO. 21840, January 6, 2025

 

INTRODUCED BY Manuel Abarca IV, County Legislator

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, the Kansas City community mourns the passing of Joe Serviss, a dedicated public servant, visionary leader, and beloved friend, whose profound contributions have left an indelible mark on the city he called home; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Serviss devoted his life to serving Kansas City, beginning with his tenure on the Kanas City, Missouri City Council in the 1970’s where he served as Mayor Pro Tem and played a pivotal role in the realization of transformative projects such as the Truman Sports Complex and Kansas City International Airport; and,

 

WHEREAS, as Chief of Staff to Mayor Kay Barnes, Mr. Serviss’s leadership and vision contributed to the revitalization of downtown Kansas City in the early 2000s, fostering a new era of growth and prosperity for the community; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Serviss was a multifaceted leader, excelling as a business owner, real estate developer, and community advocate creating opportunities and strengthening the fabric of Kansas City; and,

 

 

WHEREAS, the loss of Mr. Serviss is deeply felt by all who knew him, and his memory will forever be a source of pride, inspiration, and gratitude for the countless lives he touched; now therefore, 

 

 BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature honors the life and legacy of Joe Serviss, recognizing his decades of service, leadership, and friendship that enriched Kansas City and its people; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature extends its deepest condolences to Mr. Serviss’s family, friends, and the Kansas City community, celebrating a life well-lived and a man deeply cherished.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
