Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Drug Commission has recommended a Cooperative Agreement with One Goal Consultants of Independence, MO, for a COMBAT co-sponsorship of an anti-drug workshop titled, "Cosby Goal," featuring comedian Bill Cosby, to be held April 1, 2011, at Ruskin High School, in Kansas City, MO, at a cost to the County not to exceed $8,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of the workshop is to engage approximately 800 students and parents from the Kansas City, MO, Hickman Mills, and Kansas City, KS School Districts and several area charter schools with presentations on school bullying, education, violence, conflict resolution, parenting, financial literacy, nutritional eating, and goal setting topics; and,
WHEREAS, the program will include a presentation on substance abuse risk and protection, aimed at youth; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Cosby will conclude the session with a candid presentation; and,
WHEREAS, the County's funding will provide event insurance and t-shirts for attendees; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County a Cooperative Agreement with One Goal Consultants, of Independence, MO, at a cost to the County not to exceed $8,000.00, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
